Spring Bear Wake-Up Social on May 8



Rain or shine, Bear Smart Durango presents the Second Annual Spring Bear Wake-Up Social, a fun and educational community event to raise awareness as black bears emerge from hibernation to begin a season anew with an emphasis on preventing human-bear interactions and conflict.

Wednesday, May 8
4:00 to 8:00 PM
Durango Discovery Museum

4 PM:
• Kids' activities by Frosty Pines Wilderness Education (including a Bear Scat Eating Contest)
• Live music with Darcy Cole
• Carver’s beer
• The wolves of Wolfwood
• Electric fencing demonstration by Gallagher Fencing
• Bear-resistant container and bear spray demonstrations
• Food by Manna Soup Kitchen

6:30 PM:
"Ghost Grizzlies" slideshow talk by author and naturalist, David Petersen, in the Powerhouse Theater.
